It was very pleasing to see a coordinated approach to golf business growth on the Isle of Man recently.
The day was hosted by Jane Carter who held the audience 100% with an energetic and informed delivery.
Jason Budd (England Golf) engaged with the forum very positively. It is obvious that the game has to evolve along with the changing lifestyles that we are all experiencing. New formats and a more modern approach to what we do is essential. Golf simply cannot stand still!
The Island’s eight clubs were represented. (Castletown Golf Links, Douglas, King Edward Bay, Mount Murray, Peel, Port St Mary, Ramsey and Rowany.
The clubs all played an active role in the day’s events and it was great to meet up with friends and acquaintances. Isle of Man Golf are a cohesive force with Geoff Skillicorn, Dee Lewis and Mel Jansen as key components in the drive for good golf.
The combined effort of the 8 golf clubs working with each other will benefit the local golf scene and the Isle of Man tourism sector. We have fabulous golf courses and if the speculation is correct, life may be breathed into the masterpiece at Glen Truan. Tales from the beautiful Northern plains suggest that the course is in the process of being bought and revitalised.
Isle of Man Golf Holidays are pleased to be involved in golf development on our Island and looking forward to sponsoring coaching for up and coming golfers in 2017.
