After a break of 9 years, my own personal golf journey brought me back to Castletown Golf Links. Needless to say, my spikes felt most at home on the springy fairways around Derbyhaven.
The members have been so welcoming and it was delightful to catch up with old friends. It was refreshing to meet new people and staff in the shop, Rasheed and Ollie have very a good manner and recognise our needs.
The course has changed with new bunker faces and some repositioning of tees. Ultimately, the greens are most lovable as the breaks have never changed. The roll of the green hits perfection in September and the introduction of the new sprinkler system will keep our fairways sharp.
Saturday competitions are well attended and they are complimented with the food and drink available afterwards. I enjoy the service as the staff are always good humoured and nothing is too much effort. Generally, the comp fee is £5 and that includes NTP, Long drive and a 2’s comp.

In my golfing life, I’ve won a few pots and it was a real pleasure to scoop the Club Knockout – William Kirkpatrick Trophy.
Hopefully this will spur a comeback to the higher echelons of the local golf scene. Time for more practice and effort to make 2027 a memorable season.
