We had time to speak with Tom about the challenges faced by a professional tour golfer here on the Isle of Man during lockdown.
Tom tells us about the Europro Tour events falling by the wayside due to the Corona virus and how his fellow players are coping under the extreme conditions endured right across the UK. Not having an opportunity to earn money is a steep test for many pro golfers.
Consideration is being given as to what will happen on the Challenge Tour at the moment. The Rowany man was poised to enjoy a season of competitions and hopefully many successes. 2020 would have seen Gandy travelling all around Europe performing against the elite. Sadly, this isn’t happening at the moment.
Tom mentions that events may be squeezed in at the end of the season. This leads of course to the dilemma faced by the Professional Golf Association and how to justify qualifying in November.
